Grand fortress, finely carved Pashtun architecture based structures and splendid gateways amid lush green flora are ready to welcome you and leaving with an unforgettable experience of travel at State’s ancient city – Mandu.
This is just a window of State’s travel treasure. Now, tourism board is in the process to add more feathers to other such destinations along with carry forwarding legacy of annual festivals despite pandemic’s huge impact.
“After successfully organizing Tansen Samaroh (musical extravaganza) at Gwalior this year too, we are going to have Mandu festival from Feb 13 – 15 and that of Khajuraho will be from 20 to 26 with a twist this year. It is expected that a large number of visitors virtually will also join us.” Says, Principal Secretary, Sheo Shkhar Shukla in a press Conference at Capital.
Addressing a query, organizer said that it is expected upcoming Mandu festival will witness around 3000 visitors every day.
Maintaining Covid-19 guidelines, medical facilities will be there. If visitor were found with pre-Covid symptom at the site, there will be proper arrangements for confirmation and isolation & other measures.
Several programmes based on rural tourism, ecotourism and other cultural events would be organised during the festival, said culture and tourism minister Usha Thakur.
‘Mandu Heritage Walk’, horse trail, fishing, yoga along with morning ragas, cycle tour, treasure hunt and so forth will also be an attraction. The cycle tour and heritage walk will be conducted along with story-tellers narrating stories related with Mandu. In rural tourism, visitors will be taken to the places around to experience country life.

‘Home Stay’ and local delicacies to relish their taste buds are ready to make tour more joyful.
The tourism department would try to fix a date on which the Mandu Festival will be held every year, the principal secretary added.
